Mob Mentality-Lord of the Flies
In the book, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, there are positive and negative examples of mob mentality. In the beginning of the book, they were just a group of boys trying to signal help and find food to survive. Now they are all splitting into groups and fighting. In chapter 7, Jack and Ralph are both trying to be chief. When Jack wants to go to the top of the mountain, he asks Ralph if he wants to come and he says no, which means he's giving up his leadership. In Chapter 8, this pig just had a bunch of babies and Jack goes and kills the mother. This is an example of negative mob mentality.
