In the book, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, he shows many examples of figurative language. "When the breeze blew, the lines would slacken and the figure bow forward again (pg. 96) is a good example of imagery. The author is describing the dead body from the airplane stuck in a tree. He's saying when the wind blows his body moves. Almost like a kite. He uses figurative language to explain the body moving back and forth as the wind blows. Even though its a bad though, its something we can all relate to.
